About the service
Felicity Laurence has worked in speech pathology for 30 years with a special interest in speech sound disorders which began with adults and moved to working with children. HoSC provides therapy for children with complex speech sound disorders including complex phonological disorders and Childhood Apraxia of Speech.

Research tells us that children who are unintelligible to their parents at 3 years of age should see a Speech Pathologist (Reilly et al, 2015). It is important to find out if their speech is delayed or disordered as it is important to treat disordered speech to help to reduce the likelyhood other complications (Morgan et al, 2017).
Felicity Laurence, BSc (Hons), CPSP

Felicity graduated from Curtin University in Western Australia in 1994. She pursued a special interest in dysphagia and speech disorders in adults at Fremantle Hospital, Flinders Medical Centre and Flinders University. Felicity developed clinical pathways for credentialing Speech Pathologists in Fibreoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing at FMC before moving to Hobart, Tasmania with her young family. Felicity worked for an extensive period of time with Speech Pathology Tasmania, developing her interest in paediatric speech sound disorders and effective management of these children in the school context.
Felicity works as a Project Manager, Speech Pathology, with Catholic Education Tasmania. She is co-designing a model of speech pathology for Catholic schools across Tasmania. She is currently involved in research with Charles Sturt University looking at the prevalence of speech sound disorders in Tasmania and speech assessment pathways in schools as well as evaluating language programs in schools in collaboration with UTas.
Felicity is keenly interested and experienced with helping children with severe, complex speech sound disorders - helping them to find their voice.
